Patty Lively

Patty Lively is a painter, working primarily in oils and acrylics, occasionally charcoal, modeling paste, collage, and watercolour. She loves to experiment and works in both figurative and abstract work. She draws inspiration from the beauty of her Nova Scotian homeland, particularly around the Lunenburg area, the land, sea, plants, and animals. She focuses on interpreting the quality of light which illuminates each subject, and though some of her work is highly detailed, it retains a freshness and immediacy that transports the viewer to a moment in time, both nostalgic and magical.

Patty attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design during the 80’s and 90’s both in continuing education and as a degree student. She credits the late Arthur Handy, April Gornik, Michael Fernandes and later Leya Evelyn, as formative to her art career.

She is represented in various art galleries and her paintings are in private collections throughout Nova Scotia, BC, and the USA.
