Paulette Melanson

Paulette Melanson is a painter working primarily in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. A versatile and strong artist in both representational and abstract work, she divides her time equally between them, so that she is generally working in one of each at a time.
The representational landscape pieces are carefully planned and executed to evoke a particular mood/feeling, while the abstracts subconsciously explore the medium.
Her pieces are characterized by an interplay of atmospheric colours, and are mostly inspired by her Acadian background and surroundings in Saint Margaret’s Bay and the South Shore of Nova Scotia.

Paulette’s background includes a B.Sc. in biology, a B.Ed. and an M.Ed. Though she started studying art since young, she did not pursue serious art studies until the late 80’s when she began continuing education classes at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Her work is in private collections in Canada, and has been featured in East Coast Living Magazine’s articles and interiors.
